Miguel Coppedge is a Black King Rising whom became a published author of “The Adventures Of FireMan” at 9! At age 10, Miguel became a filmmaker and published author of two more books. “The Adventures of FireMan and the Case of The Stinger” (sequel to first book) and “Friendly Officers” (promoting community policing) He recently did a community policing PSA with the officers in his book and DC’s new police chief.
Miguel has appeared on radio shows, internet radio shows, and News Channel 8 to promote his books. Miguel does readings and inspirational speeches at schools, daycares, and after school programs. Miguel received A Young Author Achievement Award from his publisher and a personal thank you letter from President Obama. On January 19, 2015, Miguel had a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet President Obama and his family. Miguel was on all the new channels, various websites, and in the Washington Times Daily with President Obama sharing a conversation while making books for young children.
Miguel said that he feels blessed and honored to meet President Obama and that is a day he will never forget! One thing Miguel prides himself on is giving back. He raises money from his book sales to donate to St. Ann’s. Last year he donated $140.00 and this year $240.00. He did a book drive for them as well and donated over 100 books. He raised money for the Boys and Girls he attends by selling lemonade. Miguel is now raising funds to make an animated movie of his books. Miguel is determined to be great in everything he does.
